We provide compassionate behavior care. Monarch upholds a culture that embraces neurodiversity, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+. We celebrate what makes us each, wonderfully unique.
We provide behavioral support that increases safety, life-skills, and self-advocacy. Unlike some outdated applications of ABA, we do not practice an ABA model grounded in "treating" neurodivergence or implement programs designed solely for the purpose of masking one's neurodivergence.
Monarch's behavior consultants have experience working with both neurotypical children and neurodiverse children, including, but not limited to, autistic individuals/individuals diagnosed with autism, individuals with Intellectual Disability (ID), individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)/ADHDers, and specific learning disabilities, as well as those with severe behavior presentations. We also support children with co-morbid developmental and mental health needs, such as mood disorders, trauma exposure, anxiety, and/or difficulties around forming healthy attachments. Monarch provides service programs to children 0-18 years old, with learning, social emotional, and/or behavioral needs.
Every service program is individualized to work with your child's unique strengths and learning needs, while also including the unique dynamics and priorities of every family. All programs are based in Applied Behavior Analysis, utilizing established principles of behavior and learning, while also considering developmental trajectories, family systems, and theories of child development. We know that child-led, play-based, naturalistic and/or functional programming is critical. We include families and other caretakers throughout the programming process and we work hard to design behavior programs that are realistic and make sense for your family, and for your child. This means we practice consent-driven programming. We also focus our programming and intervention around celebrating all that your child is and is capable of! We are all wonderfully unique and each program is individualized to capture that.
Monarch is a small, "boutique" style behavioral agency. We are one of the few remaining independently owned behavioral providers on the Central Coast, which gives us the freedom to focus on compassionate, quality behavior care, without being tied to investor interests. We are a group practice, which means our behavior consultants work together. We are committed to keeping our caseloads modest to ensure that we have the time to effectively support and supervise all of our programs. We also maintain a high BCBA to staff ratio. We believe it is critical that our BCBAs have time to support cases and staff, and that they are not being bogged down by administrative duties or corporate benchmarks.
We are committed to using identity first language, and also recognize that some individuals and families prefer person first language. We'll use the language that you prefer.
